Arts at the Heart – A Community Celebration
Heritage Part of A Good Life Day Visual Arts Workshops & Talks
Join us for a vibrant one-day celebration bringing together residents of all ages to explore the richness of arts, culture, and community within our beautiful Grade II listed arts centre. This open and welcoming event highlights the venue’s role as a cultural anchor across Havering, blending creativity, heritage, wellbeing, and local identity through a dynamic programme of activities.
The day launches a touring community exhibition featuring local artists, makers, and community-generated content. As it travels to partner venues, the exhibition will grow with stories and reflections gathered along the way. Visitors can enjoy drop-in make-and-take craft workshops suitable for all ages, offering hands-on opportunities to experiment with materials and connect with artists in a relaxed, inclusive setting.
Guided history tours will reveal the building’s architectural significance, hidden features, and its lasting impact on the community. Wellbeing and meditation taster sessions will provide space for reflection and relaxation, introducing ongoing programmes hosted at the venue.
A collaborative community mural will evolve throughout the day, celebrating shared identity and creativity, while an interactive “What Makes Havering?” discussion board will capture memories, stories, and voices from across the borough—shaping a final exhibition that reflects the spirit of the community.
Activities will take place across different buildings. Please meet out welcome team at Fairkytes Main House entrance. Events will be sign posted.
Part of A Good Life Day, a borough-wide programme of free creative activity. With workshops, performances and exhibitions, there’s something for everyone.
