BOSH
Installation by Rosie Strickland.
Feel the bass.
BOSH is a specially commissioned artwork created for MEGA MEGA, a major new exhibition exploring Romford’s rave, pirate radio and club culture history.
Step inside a modified VW Golf and experience a sound journey inspired by Romford’s rave years. Combining music, voices and recordings gathered across the town, BOSH explores the excitement, anticipation and memories of a night out.
Through sound, voice and vibration, a specially created audio work reimagines Underworld’s Born Slippy, weaving together music, movement, memory and place.
Leave a Message
Inspired by Romford’s rave, pirate radio and club culture history, BOSH invites visitors to contribute their own memories through The Party Line voicemail system, leaving stories connected to Romford’s nightlife, music culture and social history. These recordings will help build a growing archive of local voices and experiences.
Help Build MEGA MEGA
BOSH will appear as part of MEGA MEGA’s Collection Day, where visitors can contribute photographs, flyers, recordings, memorabilia and memories connected to Romford’s rave, club and music culture for possible inclusion in the exhibition and archive.

What is MEGA MEGA?
Mega Mega is a major new exhibition exploring Romford’s rave years (1989–1999), opening in Romford in October 2026. We’re inviting local people to help shape what future visitors will see, hear and experience by contributing material connected to the town’s music, club and nightlife culture.
What Can I Bring?
We’re looking for:
- Photographs
- Flyers and posters
- Tickets and wristbands
- Tapes and recordings
- Pirate radio material
- Club memorabilia
- Documents and ephemera
- Personal stories and memories
Whether you were on the dancefloor, behind the scenes, on pirate radio, in record shops, or helping make nights happen, we’d love to hear from you.
What Happens on the Day?
Our friendly volunteer team will welcome you, guide you through the process and carefully digitise any material you bring. Your items will be safely returned to you on the same day. While you’re there on Wednesday 22 July, you can also experience BOSH, a specially commissioned artwork by Rosie Strickland exploring Romford’s rave, pirate radio and club culture history.
Why Take Part?
Every contribution helps preserve an important chapter of Romford’s cultural history and may be considered for inclusion in the exhibition and archive. Whether you bring an object, a photograph or simply a memory, we’d love to hear from you.
