FREE Summer Reading Challenge
Read to the Beat this summer with the FREE Summer Reading Challenge at Havering libraries for children aged 4–11.
Participation
Over 2000 children aged 4-11 have started the FREE Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge 2026: Read to the Beat in our libraries this Summer and there’s plenty of time to join in.
It’s delivered by The Reading Agency in partnership with public libraries and powered by Universal Music UK. This year’s theme is MUSIC. It’s fun, free and helps build up reading confidence.
Children complete six library books/reading goals. They can read whatever they like, take part in free library activities and earn stickers, collector’s cards, a certificate and medal.
How to apply
Visit any Havering library with your child to start. Children will need their own Havering Library card.
