Paid Host role for The Exchange
Welcome guests and gather stories as a Host for The Exchange
The Exchange is a neon-lit market stall designed to spark conversations around memories of markets, serving as both a conversation piece and storytelling hub. This luminous installation creates an inviting space where community archiving meets collective storytelling, transforming the act of remembering into a participatory narrative-building experience.
Hosts will gather authentic stories and experiences from visitors using postcards. These collected narratives will directly shape the Market Town summer event programme, ensuring that community voices and memories inform the creative direction.

- Engaging in meaningful conversations with members of the public (guidance and training provided)
- Encouraging visitors to fill out postcards to gather local stories of Romford Market or markets in general
- Supporting visitors with access needs and providing information about the project and Market Town
- Championing Havering London and promoting the organisation’s live opportunities by distributing ‘Good Life’ newspapers
- Installing and deinstalling the neon market stall
- Handing over and briefing other hosts and security personnel
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the stall
- Being an active participant in the experience

You will be compensated at the London Living Wage of £14.80 per hour.
