There’s Rice at Home

What happens when cooking meets storytelling? There’s Rice at Home is a new project inviting Havering residents to cook, share, and connect.
From HAVERINGLondon Co-Creation Participation
An overhead view of a table laid for 6 people. The plates are empty but there are dishes in the centre of the table waiting to be served, plus drinks and snacks. The table is surrounded by patterned chairs and several cushions with a bright patterned rug underneath the table.

Cooking, storytelling, and celebration

What happens when cooking meets storytelling? There’s Rice at Home is a new project inviting Havering residents to cook, share, and connect. Think the warmth of a family meal, the fun of Come Dine With Me, and the playfulness of Bake Off—but designed to bring people together, not compete.

We’re seeking residents to join creative workshops across Havering this winter. Together, we’ll explore food as a way to build wellbeing and connection: swapping recipes, sharing traditions, and taking part in playful challenges like guess-the-spice. Five residents will then host dinners  where neighbours will come together, try new dishes, and share stories.

No cooking experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to join in!

Workshops start in November. Free but limited places —register now to secure your seat at the table by emailing hello@haveringlondon.com
