Portrait of Havering
Portrait of Havering is a new photography project by acclaimed photographer Nico Froehlich, shining a spotlight on the people, places and stories shaping life across the borough today.
Through a mix of digital and film photography, this series documents everyday moments, neighbourhoods, and community spaces, showcasing Havering as a place of connection, creativity, and belonging.
Launched as part of Havering’s new cultural strategy, A Good Life, this commission will shape a bold new visual identity for the borough. Alongside the documentation, young Havering residents are invited to get behind the lens, explore hyperlocal documentary photography and the importance of connection to showcase their own perspectives on life in Havering. Their work will contribute to an authentic, optimistic portrait of Havering, reflecting its layered character through an array of local perspectives.
Together, these images will mark a key cultural moment for Havering, celebrating the vibrant communities, people and places that give the borough its distinctive identity.
